Hope is a sweet and active shepherd mix. Hope found herself in a high kill shelter where she became very ill. The shelter placed her on medical hold after seeing that this poor puppy was covered in fleas and ticks and had cold, white gums. She was rushed to the vet and had a blood transfusion. She likely could have lost her life if she hadn't received this medical attention. Despite this scary experience at such a young age, Hope recovered quickly. She has been with her furever home for several months now and is thriving! She is in great health and loves her family!

We love to hear transformation stories and boy is this one of them! Kanga was rescued from a high-kill shelter just minutes before she was scheduled to be euthanized. She was severely underweight, covered in fleas, had heart worms and was very scared. Only a short time later, Kanga has made leaps and bounds. She has truly transformed into a happy and healthy dog! Kanga loves cuddling with her family and getting lots of love and attention. True to her name, Kanga’s most adorable quirk is that she bounces when she is excited, which happens most often right before you let her outside. This is a dog that, despite her tough start in life, has blossomed. Her furever parents, Rob and Kelly, love her so much. She is finally living the life! Kanga is a very special girl. We're so glad we saved her!

Mishka has settled in with her new home and new pack perfectly! Mishka had a really rough first several months of life, but thanks to her wonderful adopters, she'll never have another bad day! Her adopters tell us she is the smallest member of the pack size-wise, but has the biggest personality. We are so happy for Mishka and her forever family!

Some of you may remember Luna, who was rescued by CCAR the morning she was scheduled to be euthanized at an overcrowded shelter. She was practically feral and it looked like she had a very long road ahead of her before she would be able to be comfortable with anyone. Well take a look at Luna in her forever home today! She loves hanging out in the family room with her humans and her doggy brother, Cody. She will know only love, security, and lots of doggy fun for the rest of her days.

Maddox entered the shelter emaciated after being neglected and nearly starved to death. He had an application before he got here and was adopted soon after getting to DC. He is now in great health and eating like a king at his new home!
